Cause and Effects of Liquid Nitrogen
Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) has a temperature of -320 oF. When compressed with tight stopper (top) without venting, it tends to explode producing vaporized air rising to a height of 8 – 12fts above the floor. LN2 forms ice crystallites readily when exposed to air (O2 and H2O) before melting.
Liquid Nitrogen may cause hypothermia when improperly handled. Always use safety guidelines and proper PPE when handling chemicals.
